Methadone Treatment
Project Reality
Nonprofit provider that is also licensed to do mental health therapy not just substance abuse therapy, and is approved to receive salt lake county funding to help pay for part if not all of the methadone. Methadone maintenance treatment (mmt) can help those who are abusing heroin, prescription painkillers and other opiates to get on the right path to recovery and to achieve sobriety that may otherwise be difficult without medical help. While many people find the use of a medication assisted treatment for addiction to be controversial at best, the benefits of this means of treatment are all but overlooked by those who have found that mmt can help them lead a semi-normal life following a time that was plagued by addiction. There are many reasons to choose methadone maintenance treatment but these are the most common:
- Blocks effects of opiates
- Relieves symptoms of withdrawal
- Does not cause intoxication
- Can be taken once daily
- Eliminates drug seeking behavior
- Reduces risk of infection
- Reduces criminal activity
- Improves economic stability
- Reduces risk to unborn fetus
- Reduces risk of overdose
